| Dear Canadian Friends, A library is more than shelves of books — it’s where stories, art, and people come together to create something powerful. Right now, Canadian donors have the chance to make that power go even further. Thanks to a generous commitment from an anonymous donor, every dollar donated to la Biblioteca in November and December 2025 will be matched up to a total of $40,000 USD. In 1954, it was a Canadian citizen – Helen Wale – who opened the doors of her home on Calle Hospicio, inviting her neighbors to access her book collection. That’s how the idea of a public library in San Miguel was born. In only a few years, Helen Wale, Sterling Dickinson and other enthusiastic volunteers managed to install la Biblioteca in the famous building of Calle Insurgentes 25. Day by day, la Biblioteca remains a beacon of opportunity — offering digital literacy workshops, language classes, art courses, cultural events and free Wi-Fi for all. Our doors are open to everyone from locals to visitors, many who find a home away from home in la Biblioteca. Today you can take part in this exceptional Year-End Matching Campaign, which will ensure your library will operate safely next year. | How to make a donation in Canadian dollars to la Biblioteca: La Biblioteca partners with Amistad Canada to sustain the CANADIAN EDUCATION PROJECT, which supports the payment of teachers, the acquisition of new books and the maintenance of our computer room. All charitable donations through Amistad Canada are eligible for a CRA tax receipt. • Donate by Interac e-Transfer By way of your online banking web page, you can send your donation by email. No processing fee will be deducted from your donation. Your bank may, however, charge a service fee. If you wish to donate via Interac e-Transfer, please do the following: 1. Go to your Online Banking site and click on the link for an Interac e-Transfer. 2. Fill in the required information, including the amount of your donation and, in the space provided for a personal message, indicate which Amistad Canada project you wish to support. Where you are asked to provide the Recipient’s email address, enter amistadcanadadonations@gmail.com 3. You will be asked to create a Security Question; such as “What was the password I provided you?” Send the answer to your Security Question to us in a separate email with the address: amistadcanadadonations@gmail.com This will allow us to transfer your donation to Amistad Canada’s bank account. 4.
