AMISTAD CANADA welcomes two new NGO Partners

I am delighted to announce that, after two years of not taking on any new Projects because of Covid-19, Amistad Canada is launching two new Partnerships. Effective May 1, Caminos de Agua of San Miguel de Allende and Tepoz Rosa of Tepotzlan, Morelos become part of the AC family of NGOs. Both are well-established Mexican asociaciones civiles.
Caminos de Agua’s mission is to improve health and community well-being through access to clean water. Our joint Clean Water Access Project will install a Rainwater Harvesting Systems in a yet-to-be-named rural community in the municipality of San Miguel. Members of that community will be involved from the beginning and will be trained to operate and maintain the system once it’s in service.

Tepoz Rosa’s goal is to reduce the breast and cervical cancer mortality rate among the women of Tepoztlan. As the name says, the Cervical Cancer Screening Project will provide access to the procedure as well as follow-up care for those who test positive to about 800 women a year. Tepoz Rosa will work with the Luis Pasteur Institute to operate the screening clinics.

Tepoz Rosa is holding its first AC-related fundraising event at Toronto’s Revue Theatre on June 19 from 1-3 pm. Fest For the Breast – Celebrating Breasts in Art from 35,000 BCE to the Present Day is a fascinating and entertaining presentation by freelance art historian Janet Dawson. Tickets are available from:
With the addition of these two new organizations, Amistad Canada is now operating fourteen Projects in four Mexican states. Still, with numbers, we recently calculated that donations received since AC was incorporated in 2010 now exceed $2.5-million dollars! Thank you for the support which remained steady throughout the pandemic.
