Mujeres en Cambio June 2026 Summer Newsletter
Have you ever stopped to ask yourself: What is the value of happiness?

Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to enjoy a loving family, meaningful friendships, a rewarding career, and opportunities that allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. After retirement, a simple yet profound question came to mind: What now?
As I reflected on the many blessings I had received, I felt a deep sense of gratitude—for the people who had been part of my journey and for the opportunities God had placed in my path. I began to wonder how I could give back and help others create opportunities for themselves.
When I looked back on my own life, I realized that education had been the foundation of everything I had achieved. Education opened doors, created possibilities, and gave me the tools to build the life I wanted.
That realization led me to Mujeres en Cambio. For nearly 30 years, Mujeres en Cambio has been empowering girls and young women from underserved rural communities in San Miguel de Allende through education. We believe that when a girl receives an education, she gains more than knowledge—she gains confidence, independence, and the ability to transform her future.
During the first half of 2026, we continued this mission with meaningful results. In February and April, we awarded scholarships to more than 170 students in middle school, high school, and university, helping them remain in school and continue pursuing their dreams.
We also held our annual Leadership and Personal Development Seminar, bringing together more than one hundred young women from rural communities. Through workshops and inspiring speakers, participants strengthened their self-confidence, resilience, decision-making skills, and vision for the future.

Our annual fundraising event, Hats On, brought together generous supporters, volunteers, and community members whose commitment makes this work possible. Their generosity ensures that our students receive not only financial assistance but also the encouragement and opportunities they need to thrive.
Today, Mujeres en Cambio supports 175 girls and young women through a long-term educational commitment that accompanies them from middle school through university graduation. We are especially proud to share that nearly 20 students are preparing to graduate from college in the coming months, many becoming the first professionals in their families.
These accomplishments represent far more than numbers. They represent young women breaking cycles of poverty, creating new opportunities for future generations, and becoming leaders within their families and communities.
While I could never repay all the happiness and opportunities I have experienced throughout my life, I am grateful to know that, through Mujeres en Cambio, I can help create opportunities for others.
As we look ahead, our goal is to ensure that every young woman in our program has the support she needs to complete her education and reach her full potential. In the coming year, many of our graduating students will face the final expenses associated with earning their degrees, including graduation and professional certification costs. We are committed to helping them cross that finish line.
We invite you to continue this journey with us. Together, we are doing more than funding scholarships. We are empowering young women, strengthening families, and transforming communities through education. Thank you for believing in these students and for helping us change the world, one girl at a time.

With gratitude,
