| Just a few days before our Pro Musica performances of Verdi’s thunderous masterpiece Otello on February 7th and 8th, 2026, we will host our most important—and most enchanting—event of the season: our annual Gala Fundraiser, newly re-imagined as A MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA, on Tuesday, February 3 at 5 pm. This year’s celebration unfolds in the majestic surroundings of a private hacienda in Los Frailes—a spectacular property that hosts no public events of any kind. This is your once-a-year opportunity to step inside a world of grand, old-world elegance, complete with sweeping gardens, shimmering lakes, fountains, and soaring colonial architecture. It is truly a setting ‘fit for a king’, the kind of palace where Verdi’s noble, tragic, Otello himself would feel at home! |

| Perhaps you will have stunning soprano Jacinta Barbachano at your table; she’s performing the passionate, demanding role of Desdemona. “It’s a dream, but a challenge,” she says enthusiastically. “Verdi demands everything: vocal stamina, emotional maturity, and deep honesty. Desdemona’s music is luminous, spiritual… but also heartbreaking,” and, she adds with a smile, “I feel a great responsibility to portray her truthfully—her innocence, her courage, her tragedy.” Join Jacinta and the cast for one of the season’s most unforgettable occasions filled with artistry, atmosphere and fun, celebrating classical music and opera in San Miguel – and helping ensure continuing opportunities for young musicians in our vibrant city.
